MGB Signalling

MGB Signalling provides a full range of engineering services to the rail signalling industry, including design, product manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning.

The website was originally produced with a number of content managed section such as news, services, products, projects, featured people, case studies, and training areas.

The admin system provides a list view with a search engine, page and sort controls. It allows the site administrator to edit the content of the database by entering text, selecting items from drop-down menus, upload and resize images and upload files.

We have recently overhauled the site to enable more sections to be content managed, for pages to be structured hierarchically, and to make the content management system capable of making more complex and dynamic layouts.

The site performance has also been tweaked making the website load at least twice as fast as previously. This was achieved by analysing load order, reducing HTTP transfers, employing appropriate image/transfer compression, and by leveraging HTTP 1.1 caching.

Flash components were rebuilt using native XHTML and animated using jQuery, improving accessibility, search engine transparency, and significantly improving the perceived load speed of the site.
